Daytona Turkey Run
By Elena Castello
For car owners and aficionados alike, the 43rd annual Daytona Turkey Run was the place to be this past weekend. The car show is the “largest combined car show and swap meet in the United States,” according to its website. Held at Daytona’s International Speedway on Nov. 24-27, the 2.5-mile stretch was covered with cars, parts, vendors, and even a play area for kids.
People flocked from all over the U.S. to admire cars and bring their classic, muscle, and race cars and trucks to show off. More than 6,500 automobiles made their debut over the four-day run, and 2,500 were registered on the swap lot – a place where owners go in hopes of trading ideas, parts, and even entire cars.
More than 100,000 attendees roamed the grounds of the speedway, “just looking” at unique and priceless cars, while others decided if the price was right and took home a brand new ride.

AmeriCarna LIVE Car Show
Car show in Davidson raises money, awareness for those with autism.
BY MARTY PRICE
Five hundred cars and a crowd fueled donations to IGNITE Community Center for young adults with high-functioning autism or Asperger’s syndrome.
About 5,000 people visited Ingersoll Rand’s North American Headquarters and Corporate Center in Davidson on Nov. 26 for Ray Evernham’s fourth annual AmeriCarna LIVE car show
A former NASCAR championship crew chief, Evernham said he saw a need when his son, Raymond John, 25, graduated from high school. Five years ago, he helped to start the IGNITE Community Center in Davidson, “a clubhouse where they can learn banking skills, driving skills, job skills, cooking skills and social skills so that they can live independently,” said Evernham.
One year after the center opened, the car shows began with about 250 cars. “We thought ‘the only thing we really know a lot about is cars, so to get everybody together for a car show makes sense to us,” he said.
This year the number of cars swelled to 500, with the $100,000-plus proceeds being donated to the Evernham Family — Racing for a Reason Foundation, to support the IGNITE Community Center.
In addition to helping the cause, many of the car owners enjoyed showing their pride and joy to anyone who would stop by for a chat. Charlotte resident Rob Smeltzer completed the display of his red, 1968 Chevrolet Camaro SS with 128 feet of rope lights along with a model of his car in the engine compartment.
Amidst the chrome and red paint, a small, mirrored disco ball hung above the model car that was on a rotating stage above the chrome air filter. To some it resembled a dancing hall more than an engine compartment.

2016 SEMA Battle of the Builders Champion
The SEMA Battle of the Builders® competition features top automotive builders from across the nation.
Congrats to the 2016 SEMA Battle of the Builders Champion, Cam Miller and his 1969 Chevy Camaro! Keep a look out for Cam and all of the other amazing builders in the Spring when the SEMA Battle of the Builders TV Special premieres on the Velocity Network
HS Customs/Cam Miller has been building custom cars and trucks full time for six years. In that time we have qualified for Custom Rod of the Year Goodguys with a ‘58 T-Bird. The Camaro you see here we unveiled at the Detroit Auto Rama, took Utah's Finest and 1st in class pro touring at the Salt Lake City Auto Rama. Competed for Street Machine of the Year at Goodguys Columbus and made the top five. Competed for the Reno Cup at Hot August Nights and made top 5 with a 4th overall finish and also took Best in Show at Atlantis Casino. We are located in small-town Logan, Utah, and are just so excited to be a part of such a great industry. We are really excited to be a part of SEMA 2016 with this being our first time having a car in SEMA. Battle of the Builders, to be a part of that is just huge!
The ‘69 Camaro is a legend for so many reasons and there are so many awesome examples of these cars in this world. Probably one of the hardest cars to build and stand out. This is what we came up with trying to be different, innovative and creative, yet maintain what makes the Camaro so legendary. We hope you enjoy Under Pressure by HS Customs.

The cars flexing their muscle at SEMA
From 1000hp vintage Mustangs to artificially aged Dodge Challengers, old-school looks married to cutting-edge performance is quickly becoming the overriding theme of this year's SEMA show, especially where America's favorite muscle car marques are concerned.
Timeless Kustoms Vicious
Here's a company that clearly follows the Jeremy Clarkson mantra that there's no such thing as too much power. It's taken a 65 Mustang fastback and dropped a current generation Ford Performance 5.1-liter V8 under the hood. So far, so normal. But then there are the turbochargers -- two Precision Turbo units -- plus a Magnuson TVS supercharger. As well as having to get very creative with the hood design and seriously enlarging the car's front and rear track, the result is 1000hp going to the rear wheels via a paddle-shift transmission. Keeping all of that power in check is the suspension set-up from a Corvette, a new chassis and thankfully, huge carbon ceramic brakes. And thanks to some lashings of red leather and high-tech toys, the interior is as cossetting as the outside is aggressive.
Chevelle Slammer
Keeping with the old-school vibe, one of Chevrolet's SEMA 2016 studies is a heavily modified 69 Chevelle which at first glance looks stock. The chrome has been dialed back, panel gaps have been reduced and things like bumpers fit much more snugly. It also sits lower thanks to air suspension. But pop the hood and there's a new LT376/535 crate engine (based on the V8 in the current Corvette Stingray) running the show. It delivers 535hp (75 more than in the ‘Vette) and is connected to a rather smart four-speed automatic transmission. Inside the car boasts a host of features and fittings lifted straight out of the current generation Camaro.
Camaro Slammer
No, it's not a type of shot served at bars in Detroit, it's what happens when Chevrolet's in-house team push the design of the current Camaro SS to its logical limits. The body's been widened to accommodate 24-inch rear and 22-inch front wheels and the addition of air suspension means that the body literally hugs the ground. The phenomenal black exterior finish was achieved by adding flecks of white pigment to one of the three coats of paint while, like the Chevelle, the interior is bright red.
Dodge Shakedown Challenger
Rather than bring an old model up to date, The Shakedown Challenger is a brand new car that Mopar has overhauled to look like the 1971 classic but with 2016 engineering knowhow calling the shots.
From the outside it has the vintage 70s-style grille and front chin spoiler, an old-school hood-mounted air scoop, tail lights and boot-lid spoiler. What's more, the door handles and fuel cap have been ‘shaved'. Inside, the cabin is awash with carbon fiber and custom gauges, plus a drag racing roll bar. Under the hood is a new 485hp Hemi crate motor mated to the transmission out of a Dodge Viper and for ease of access the whole body will lift off the custom made one-off frame.
