Pirelli Great 8 and The Riddler Award

Every year hundreds of vehicles enter the Annual Detroit Autorama hoping to take home the Icon of Automotive Awards: The Ridler Award. And this year was no exception, but before there can be a Ridler winner there must be eight of the finest taken from the hundreds of challengers. These eight finalist come away with an impressive award called the Pirelli Great 8.

Billy Thomas from Georgetown, Texas with his 1939 Olds convertible.


Michael and Patricia Markin from Eau Claire, Wisconsin with their 1938 Graham.


Mark Gooden from Marshall, Missouri with his 1952 Mercedes.


Greg Malvaso from Murfreesboro, Tennessee with his 1940 Willys.


Joe Horish from Wilmington, Delaware with “Double Bubble”, his 1961 Chevy Bubble Top turned wagon.


Richard Broyles from Jonesborough, Tennessee with his 1941 Ford pickup.


Kenny Welch from Boise, Idaho with his 1937 Ford coupe.


Chris and Colleen Bitmead of Orange Grove, Western Australia with their 1976 Falcon.


Billy Thomas from Georgetown, Texas with his 1939 Olds convertible.



Riddler Award



And the Riddler Award went to Billy Thomas and his incredible ’39 Olds. He received the coveted custom-made trophy with his name engraved, a check for $10,000, and a special commemorative jacket complete with Bill’s name embroidered, all presented by Chevrolet Performance.
